LVMH has officially announced the closure of Rihanna 's ready-to-wear luxury fashion brand, Fenty. The news comes just two years after its launch. Fenty was the first fashion house since Christian Lacroix in 1987, to have started from scratch under the LVMH name. Known for its high-end prices, the LVMH-backed brand was unable to appeal to Rihanna's broad fan base. LVMH is pausing Fenty, the fashion brand it launched less than two years ago in partnership with Rhianna.
The French luxury giant and the superstar have mutually agreed to put the label on hold, LVMH said in a statement Wednesday.
“Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions,” the group said.
